Visitors from Wellington for Valentine’s Day

We had some visitors from Wellington. Peter Hickson is a great grandson of the one-legged Kenneth “Crubach” McDonald who used to run a boarding house at 123 Grafton Road (or ‘Rothesay Hotel’, as it was called then) during World War I.

Peter’s grandparents actually met at the house and fell in love. When Peter’s grandfather Cecil Harden was boarding there he met Peter’s grandmother Norma McDonald (Kenneth’s daughter).
